Laysphere compiles data from numerous sources into a universal map of (eventually) all the physical surfaces on Earth. This map is Home Sphere, where creators can place their A/R creations in physical spaces as persistent interactive digital entities; each user will see your creation in the same location each time they access the sphere. Users and creators can share their work with each other, even collaborate on the same A/R content from different devices. Because content is persistent, it can also be dynamic; the content can have a life of its own even if the user leaves and comes back later.
For exclusive content, creators can build entire spheres of their own, which users can join, allowing monetization for creators, and shared content-specific communities, like a digital overlay for the physical world, that only the shared sphere members can see.
The Laysphere app includes tools to help users become creators themselves, including a digital graffiti app (ever want to give the Statue of Liberty a new paint job?), shape building and placement tools, tools to assist progressive generation of global content, and a selection of art assets, surface skins, and animation options that can turn any Lay-person into a content developer with no coding skills required.
The name comes from the idea that we are building a digital overlay for the entire physical world; a spherical, Earth-sized universe where the digital and physical intertwine and interact, e.g. an overlaying sphere. Hence, Laysphere.
The full version of Laysphere is permanently free for all users. We want everyone to enjoy the digital universe our creators build. Creators may charge for access to content spheres, but the Home Sphere is for all.
The only limitation to what you can build is your own creativity. Create and share the world you want to see. Build on the shared dreams of others. Paint the universe in your own set of colors.
Our revenue comes from a percentage of in-app revenue that creators earn. If you make money, we make money. If your content is free, we will host it for free.
While Laysphere will allow creators to use ads to support themselves, we will never have ads in the Home Sphere. In competitive locations the user base selects top content for display; nobody pays for their place.
Laysphere does not sell any data that could be traced back to any specific person. Creators are free to collect data and sell it, but are required to disclose it's uses in advance, and get explicit approval.
A/R hardware is a growing market with some exciting prospects, but most people on Laysphere are probably going to be on a smartphone. We think that's fine, so we built the platform on Unity, and made it accessible on devices from any major provider.
